Strix Limited are a market leader in the design and manufacture of Kettle controls.
A health and safety issue arose when operators were pushing and pulling heavy tooling in and out of presses, especially as Strix have a 60T Bruderer Press which, due to the nature of their factory (which is built over sand-based ground) has to be on sprung feet. This means that the bed is quite high.
Sid Bolton, Strix’s Senior Manufacturing Engineer was part of the team that approached Wilmat to see if we could provide a solution as they already have Wilmat equipment on site.
Sid said ‘Dealing with Wilmat was exceptionally easy and they were accommodating on all fronts, especially obtaining videos from other customers of their Wilmat Die Handlers working so that we could understand how the units could help us, since we are based on the Isle of Man’.
The unit has a capacity of 1000kg with a lift height of 2300mm to the bed. The unit is fitted with a bridge on the end of the bed to suit the press and it has an extended pusher bar to allow the tool to be pushed 250mm into the press. The functions are all powered eliminating the need for manual handling.
We were delighted to work with Strix and very much look forward to working with you again in the future.
